In your daily devotions this week pray for the Scottish Episcopal Church; the Union of Black Episcopalians; the ministry of the laity; the ministry of supply priest and the Diocesan Choir Camp; the ministry of Archdeacons; the members and ministry of the Sudan Committee; and Susanna Cates, priest of our diocese.

August food drive - Suggested donations for August include baby food, baby formula, peanut butter, jelly and canned soup. As always, other items are also welcome. Thank you very much for your continued support of our food drive for the people served by the Christian Caring Center.

ChildFund Update: St. Peter’s now sponsors 4-year-old Mario in Bolivia. Mario will receive much-needed educational, nutritional, and medical support. Rubino celebrated his 13th birthday and graduated from 8th grade. He left the program because secondary school is unavailable in his remote village. St. Peter’s sponsorship provided Rubino with food, a primary education, immunizations and medical care, dental care, and cultural programs. Our extra gifts funded new clothes, backpacks, a bicycle, a bed, and a stove for the family that replaced an open-air fire for cooking and boiling water. St. Peter’s also sponsors Thiago, a 6-year-old boy in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Thiago lives with his parents and sister in an extremely impoverished urban environment. Thiago enjoys street soccer and playing with friends at school. He received medical care through ChildFund this year and is now thriving. Thank you for supporting Mario and Thiago.

Help us welcome our new priest.  We invite you to write a few words of welcome for Reverend Valerie. There are supplies in the narthex; just write your welcome, sign your name, and leave it in the basket. We will put the welcome notes on the vestry bulletin board in Williams Hall for Reverend Valerie to see when she arrives.  Thank you.

As we plan for the 2019-2020 Christian Formation year we are in need of volunteers to teach in our Sunday School from ages 3 through 5th grade and the J2A class (grades 6-7).  All volunteers will be trained and material is supplied.  We also need volunteers to staff the Nursery during the 10:15 service.  Our Nursery is located in the hallway just outside of the Narthex.  For more information please contact Sue Legnani (slegnani@stpetersmedford. org).  The ministry of Christian Formation belongs to all of us at St. Peter’s as its mission is to train Disciples of Jesus to go into the world to live out and spread his message of love.

The Way of Love is a program from our Presiding Bishop, Michael Curry, that was led by Dcn. Ken during Lent. Now there is a podcast that is available from The Episcopal Church ( or from whatever source you use for your podcasts.  In this series you will learn about the seven parts of the Way Of Love: Turn, Learn, Pray, Worship, Bless, Go and Rest.  Perhaps this is something you could use while sitting on the porch, by the pool, on the beach, in the car or before bed.  You can also download other material from the website to help you follow these sessions.

Join us for a Summer Cook Out to bid farewell and thank Father Salmon for his service on Sunday, July 28th 4pm – 6pm. We will have burgers and hot dogs, games and music and an outreach project.  Picnic will be held in the back of the church building.  Please bring a side dish or dessert.

Operation Fill-a-Backpack: We’re collecting school supplies and backpacks for children served by Oaks Integrated Care. Please help fill the labeled bin in the narthex July 21-August 11. Suggestions include backpack for boy or girl, insulated lunch bag, organizers and binders, pens, markers, highlighters, pencils, erasers, notebooks, loose-leaf paper, rulers, scissors, glue sticks, index cards, book covers, report folders, calculators, tissue packets and hand sanitizers. Thanks for your support!

Rutger’s Reading Classes will again be using our facility on Fridays and Saturdays.  Please do not disturb these classes.  Thank you.

Name tags:  To help Reverend Valerie learn our names, please begin to wear your name tag.  Not only will she be able to learn our names, maybe you'll learn the name of another parishioner, too!  Name tags are hanging on the large board in the narthex.  If you do not have a name tag, please contact the office.  At the end of the service, please return your name tag to the basket on the floor in front of the board.  Thank you!

Grocery shopping with a cash card? Try it, you’ll like it!  The International Outreach Team thanks those who faithfully support St. Peter’s companionship with Redemption School, Haiti, by purchasing and using Acme or ShopRite cards. Both cards are available for sale after all services in denominations of $20.00, $50.00, and $100.00.
